Size Guide

How to use this guide

Measure yourself with a tape rather than converting from another brand, then read across the table. Workwear is cut with more room than everyday clothing, so the number you take here is usually the number to order.

Size chart

Measurement How to measure Which garments it decides
Chest Around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, tape level and not pulled tight. Tees, work shirts, hooded sweatshirts, jackets, coats and vests.
Waist Around your natural waistline where you actually wear your trousers, not where a belt sits highest. Work trousers, jeans, shorts and bib overalls.
Inseam From the crotch seam straight down the inside of the leg to where you want the hem to sit over a boot. Work trousers, jeans and the leg length on coveralls.
Hip and seat Around the fullest part of the seat, standing with feet together. Relaxed and carpenter cut trousers, and bib overalls.
Height Standing straight without shoes, heel to crown. Whether to take a regular, short or tall length, and coverall sizing.
Sleeve From the centre back of the neck, across the shoulder and down to the wrist with the arm slightly bent. Long sleeve shirts, jackets and coats.

Sizing for layers

Anything insulated needs room for what goes underneath, so measure over the layer you expect to wear rather than over a bare torso.

This matters most on bib overalls, insulated coveralls and work coats. A jacket that fits perfectly over a tee in September is a tight jacket over a hooded sweatshirt in January, and a bib that fits your waist exactly will not close over a fleece. Where you fall between two sizes on an insulated garment, take the larger one.

Lengths and big and tall

Trousers are stocked in numeric waists with regular, short and tall lengths where the garment offers them, and much of the range runs well beyond XL.

The size options listed on each product page are the definitive list for that item. If you are unsure between two, call the store on (914) 698-0969 or email support@robertsworkwear.com and we will check the garment on the shelf before you order.
