Hoodies & Sweatshirts
Hoodies & Sweatshirts is the mid layer of the range at Robert's Department Store, our clothing store on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck, New York. It holds the pullovers and zip fronts that get grabbed off the hook on the way out and stay on until the work warms you up.
Fleece does most of the work here. It warms up immediately rather than after a mile of walking, it dries out after a soaking, and it takes abuse without looking beaten. A pullover keeps the front free of hardware that could catch on anything; a full zip comes off without taking a hard hat with it. Both shapes are worth owning for different reasons, and most people end up with one of each.
Two specialised groups sit inside this range. Hi vis hooded sweatshirts in class 2 and class 3 put visibility and warmth into one garment, some with a thermal lining for winter and some with colour blocking through the lower body so dirt shows less. Flame resistant hooded sweatshirts cover regulated trades, with the resistance built into the garment rather than applied as a coating that washes out.
Sizing advice is the same throughout: buy for the layer that goes underneath, not for a bare torso, particularly on anything hi vis, since a bright layer stretched tight over other clothing loses the surface area that makes it work. Hoodies & Sweatshirts is where most of a winter wardrobe actually lives.
