Duck Work Coat with Removable Hood

A washed duck work coat whose hood zips off, so it is two coats depending on the weather.

Fixed hoods are a compromise. They are essential for a couple of weeks a year and a nuisance under a hard hat for the rest of it. Zipping the hood off turns this into a plain collared work coat in about five seconds, and zipping it back on takes the same. The duck shell is washed, so it is soft from the first wear, and the coat is cut long enough to cover the lower back when you bend.

Bark is the colour, and it is the one that improves with age. Size it over a hoodie rather than over a shirt. If you only buy one outdoor coat for work, the removable hood is the feature that makes this the sensible one.
